We are an ESRC funded project spanning across four universities with a focus on young children’s participation rights in the lower primary setting. Our project has four separate but interrelated phases.

  1. The first part of our project charts the current picture in Wales regarding participation in initial teacher education and professional learning opportunities. 
  2. Part two explores children's experiences and knowledge of participative rights using Reggio-inspired pedagogy as a stimulus across Wales.
  3. In Part three, our work with an ITE partnership in Wales will provide us with insight into the professional learning journey of ITE students and teacher educators with regard to developing pedagogic practices that embed young children’s participation rights. 
  4. A fourth and final part of the project focuses on dissemination and the overall impact of this body of work.
